Lighted streets. But many many people=horrible traffic conditions=traffic police mobilised to wave luminous light sticks at cars & people
We walked in circles in the Pasar and had no idea where we were, we literally went with the flow (ie jostling crowd) and somehow found our way into this food centre. For an instant it felt like I was in Malaysia. I need a holiday…
I love the advertisement writers. STYLO lehhhh!!!
An attempt to look like tourists. Which nationality can they pass off as…. aiyoh…
I never liked, or rather, I’ve never been to Chinatown during Chinese New Year. Must have been scared out of my wits watching the news coverage of the huge masses of people that throng the streets of Chinatown as a kid. Somehow squeezing with the crowds during Ramadan after squeezing in different places whilst travelling didn’t seem such an off-putting idea. Of course the smell of nibbles like burgers, waffle hot dogs was a big pull factor.
After dinner (I still don’t know why we didn’t buy nibbles and eat while walking), our first stop was a GAMES stall/stand. ARGHHHHH. We waited and waited while Mr Ang fiddled around with the air rifle and the pellet (the stall/stand owners were seriously laughing at us). FINALLY, the air rifle thing got working and attempts were made to hit rubber ducky silhouettes (I have no idea about the choice of targets). This was coupled with a lot of cheating by picking up bounced-off-the-protective-tarp-and-landed-on-the-floor-pellets, with further attempts to hit the duckies. The attempts were well….erm….unsuccessful.
I thought ok we’re done, let’s move on to the next bit of the night market. BUT NoooOOOoooo. We took 3 steps backward (still the same stall) to try out hitting cans off a surface with rubber balls. =_= At least this time, a prize was won, which was first a plush winnie the pooh, which was swopped for a furry martian which was then swopped for a cleaner version of the furry martian which on further inspection looked like a demented martian. The swopping left some regret but at least there was a lot of laughing involved…. (I sound a little insane here, like my previous post but people who were there, we know what the demented martian looks like….hehe…)
More walking and squeezing past A HECK OF A LOT OF PEOPLE. The night market had everything up for sale ranging from kiddie shoes to home-baked cookies to cars. Quite a crazy range, even halal bbq meat. Come to think of it, yesterday, especially the being moved with the crowd is quite a blurry memory. We gave up after perspiring buckets and we’d seen places we’d never seen before and ended up at Gab’s watching F1 on tv. F1 is interesting in a weird way, it’s fun if the view switches to the driver’s view but seeing the cars go round bend after bend in endless circles is also very sleep-inducing…
So, the uninitiated have seen the Ramadan fun at the market, everyone got to watch a little bit of F1 but we had to end the night with our usual indecisiveness which meant a bit of dwadling, hemming and hawing and all going home. A relatively fun night except that on the way home, our car concluded that we were getting older and too tired too fast.
